New DMR digital repeater in Laplace
« on: June 07, 2018, 09:48:44 pm »
From Conrad KG5FQT

Our DMR repeater is now online!!! 442.675 +5 offset CC1. It’s as 485 feet high on the tower in Laplace on Airline Hwy. We currently have TS 1 as open and TS2 will have Louisiana, Louisiana Chat and Gulf Coast DMR as static for now. Depending on how that works with traffic, we may keep it or move 1 of those to TS1. The idea for now is to keep TS 1 open for WW, North America and the Tac310-314’s for anyone to use. This will probably be moving once we get a new tower built towards the end of the year. But for now, have fun. As usual need to thank Adam KD5LEH, because without his equipment, this would have never gotten done. Also have to thank Luke Guillory at RTC Internet who has helped us tremendously with connectivity at our repeaters.

Thanks for that Mike!

Did they modify an older repeater to accept DMR, or did they purchase a brand new DMR repeater?

I'm a newbie at this stuff...really.

Not sure on this machine but many are modified by tightening the bandwidth on the radio and a few other mods. We  have a DMR in Lockport, albet its at 40 feet or so currently. There are plans for others as radios are cheap compared to other digital modes.

For me, at least this is great news!  Currently I have a TYT  MD-380 and will enjoy using both.  I have been contemplating a radio for the house as well as the vehicle that will do FM/DMR.

Where can I get a codeplug for each one?  5W for the time being may make the one in Lockport useable but hopefully soon with 50W at the house.......

Thanks, Mike WB0LNS
